Solidarity message of COMMUNIST PARTY OF BENIN AND THE PATRIOTIC CONVENTION OF LEFT PEOPLE at the Colloquium of AMILCAR CABRAL IDEOLOGICAL SCHOOL (ACIS) held on July 15th 2015, Lagos- Nigeria
I have to express to you my warm joy as well as that of my delegation for the opportunity to participate in this colloquium. We say, thank you. The delegation that I led here represents two organisations, namely, the Communist Party of Benin (CPB) of which I am the General Secretary and Patriotic Convention of Left Forces, of which I am the President.
The Patriotic Convention of Left Forces is made of three political parties: CPB (Communist Party of Benin), Social Democratic Party, the Creseux for Development and Progress, and also with democratic and revolutionary organisations of workers, the youth, the women, defence of Human Rights groups such as CSTB (Confederation of Labour Unions of Benin, the most important labour confederation in Benin Republic, the FESYNTRA – Finance, Federation of Finance Unions of Benin, L ’UNSEB: Union of National Students’ Union of Benin, UNAPEEP – Teacher-Parents Association, ANADEC – National Association of Unemployed, OOHP – Organisation for the Defence of People and Human Rights, WFLPP – Women for People Freedom and Progress, CPCM – Christians to Change the World, CCUNAB – Coordination of the Committee of Market Users of Benin, CDDHDA – Centre for the Defence of Human Rights and Democracy in Africa - a large Patriotic Alliance, anti-imperialist Revolutionary Front, the most vast ever done in our country.
Our message is made up of three issues as follows:
- The present situation in our continent
- The necessity to do revolution in Africa as a way forward to socialism, and the necessity to have a Vanguard party
- The Union of all political and anti-imperialist forces of all Africa in order to meet the objectives
The African Continent in human history is the GOD’s lamb sacrificed for the development of other continents. Africa is the source of humanity and yet the reservoir of human beings has been emptied of her sons and daughters taken into slavery to build the Americas. The modern capitalism has been built on the sweat and blood of millions of Africans in the shameless trade of human beings. After slavery, it was the colonisation by the European powers that came to occupy our lands and carried away our resources to develop their big modern capitalist countries of Europe indeed.
Presently, this colonisation that has divided our people into small states, Francophones, Anglophones, Lusophones, etc. continues in quasi-direct forms. No riches remain 60 years after the independence in the hands of former or new colonisers. There is need to underline that, of all countries, those called Francophones are the most exploited, the ones that remain in the rank of colonialism. For instance, our currency called CFA still belongs to France and placed in French treasury in Paris.
The outcome of slavery, colonisation and the neo-colonisation:
Africa that, amongst all continents, is one of the richest in natural resources is unfortunately the poorest of the planet. Africa is the only continent that is not master of herself, where the foreigner is the master.
Africa among other continents is the only one where man/ woman get knowledge through foreign languages. All the people of the Western World gain their education in their languages. This is not the case in Africa – Russians learn in Russian, French learn in French and British learn in English. But in Benin, we learn in French. In Nigeria, children learn in English, in Angola it is Portuguese etc.
Africa is the continent of all foreign interventions, that is the continent where foreign powers succeeded to intervene against the Libyan people and go on to kill their leader. No continent would accept it. Africa is the most exploited continent, the most divided, and the most humiliated.
What is to be done?
Let the peoples of Africa arise and sweep their continent of the junk of imperialism and neo-colonial capitalism. Only revolution will save our continent. To do revolution, each country must have a Vanguard party. No miracle can bring about peoples’ liberation than to organise first in parties. The people are in world history and in particular in African history: the CCP of Nkrumah, the PAIGC of Cabral, the FLN of Algeria, the MPLA of Angola, the FRELIMO of Mozambique, the FPR of Rwanda, etc.
Therefore there is need for the creation of Vanguard parties based on scientific ideological background. Then the work of bringing together the party, other developmental and revolutionary organisations in an alliance, a front of the people, also needs to be accomplished in order to win the heavy but indispensable task ahead for revolution and installation of socialism.
The revolutionary struggle is a collective struggle; no people can carry out the revolution alone and hold on to it for long. There must be support of other African people; we must overcome the present colonial divisions.
It is the general analphabetism of African people. But if there was education in our languages such as Hausa, Yoruba, Tui, Gan, Adja, Fon, Ewe etc. our people would have made progress in modernity.
In Cote d Ivoire, France came to remove President Gbagbo and put in place someone entirely ready to take their orders. French imperialists occupy other countries like Mali and RCA. Imperialists under the guise of Islamist groups such as Boko Haram, Alshabab, etc. opt to destroy others states and the people. We must fight them
Without the vanguard party/s even if the people rise up the revolution will be compromised. There lies the difference between Tunisia, Egypt and Burkina Faso.
Today in our country, Benin, we noticed a situation of colonial domination where a French Company called Bollore that has control of the port is getting a contract to build a railway of a colonial type with 1-meter space of 135 against the directive of ECOWAS and UEDTOA. This will isolate Benin from Nigeria, Cote d ‘Ivoire, etc
The revolution in Africa is not impossible. Today, we have many cases like the cases of Tunisia and Burkina Faso – the people of the World such as Greece, Spain, are rising up against the dictates of IMF and World Bank as we all know.
